Being Green in Business

The Australian Government has been considering the introduction of a Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) as part of its plan to manage the impacts of climate change. On 27 April 2010, the Australian Government announced that it will not be introducing a CPRS until after 2012. The Federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry website provides further details about the proposed CPRS.

There are a range of tools and information available to help small businesses reduce their carbon footprint and be greener.

The Federal Department of Climate Change provides details on reducing emissions and adapting to climate change, and includes a comprehensive list of government climate change and energy efficiency programs and initiatives.

The Small Business, Big Impact guide contains some useful information and links about how you can adapt your business to manage some of these impacts.

Sensis has also released “Sustainable Growth”, a free publication for small businesses which provides information about how to reduce your environmental impact and improve your bottom line. For more information and to access “Sustainable Growth” visit the Sensis website.
